John Ramer, Pastor JOHN RAMER
Contact John

John has a passion to clearly teach the Scriptures and to help others meet, know and follow Jesus. He began pastoring Gracepointe Church in 2009 and has been in full-time ministry since 1990. John received his Masters of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in 1992 and his BBA from the University of Michigan. After a career in industrial sales and serving in leadership with IVCF in college and in his local church, John sensed God’s call to ministry while at Swiss L’Abri. John loves the Art Institute, trekking in the Alps, working out at Park View, golfing, reading, great coffee and conversation,
and music. John and Melissa married in 1989 and have four adult children and one son-in-law, whom they treasure. Together, they love to travel and enjoy art and God’s creation. The life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20)

Nancy Cassell, Office Manager NANCY CASSELL
Contact the Office

Nancy heard and believed the gospel as a child. She is grateful for believing parents and years of strong teaching from God’s Word, which served her well and pointed her back to “True North” during and after college. After serving five years as a missionary teacher, Nancy landed in Mundelein, where Gracepointe has been her spiritual home for many years. After working 20+ years as an executive assistant for a mission organization, Nancy has had the joy to serve as office manager at Gracepointe since 2011, volunteer with the worship team and lead a women’s Bible study. In her free time, you can find her making a quilt, watching birds, paddling a canoe or planning a road trip!

The Elder Board consists of volunteer board members along with the Pastor. The Board leads the church, upholding it in regular prayer, and meets regularly to conduct the business of the church.

Andy Searle, Chairman ANDY SEARLE

Andy has been attending and serving at Gracepointe and living in Mundelein since 1992. He is a graduate of Wheaton College where he met his wife, Jennifer. They have three adult children and one grandchild. Andy has taught Sunday school, led small groups, sung in worship, and served as an elder and chairman of the board. Jennifer and Andy love to travel and see new places. They especially love national parks and hope to visit many more in the future. Andy is a big sports fan and loves to cheer on the Bears, the Cubs, and, as a San Francisco Bay area native, he enjoys following the Golden State Warriors. Andy enjoys walking, biking and being outside.

Ken and Celia Stratman have been married since 1979 and have two adult children. Ken has served at Gracepointe Church over the years as an elder, worship leader and as a co-leader of Gracepointe Wildfolk. He is the senior vice president of Custom Roofing Contracting. Ken enjoys golfing, bicycling, hiking, target shooting and rock climbing.

Tim has been a member of Gracepointe Church since moving to the area in 1985. He has been walking with the Lord since accepting Christ at the age of 17. Tim works as an inspection compliance manager for a life and security company in Lake Zurich. He serves in the children’s ministry and on the First Impressions team. In his free time, Tim enjoys reading, biking, getting out in nature and golfing.

Steve and his wife, Allison, live in Round Lake with their six-year-old daughter. Steve is on the sales team at Learning Resources in Vernon Hills. After meeting Allison in 2009, Steve began attending Gracepointe with her and quickly fell in love with the church (and Allison). Steve feels honored and humbled to serve and be a part of this congregation. Throughout his time at Gracepointe, he has run the sound board, led a class on church history, and he and Allison have led Financial Peace University. Steve enjoys the outdoors and spending time with extended family. During the winter months, he heartily cheers on the Chicago Bears!
