As days turn into weeks and possibly months under the stay at home order with a constant barrage of Covid19 news, it is easy to forget the most important news for all of humanity: Jesus is both Lord and Christ, crucified and resurrected. When we see Jesus, we can say: Behold, this is God. Jesus shows us fully who God is.
This is the very last line in Luke’s summary of Peter’s magnificent sermon to Jews from every nation on the day of Pentecost: Acts 2:36 Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.” (ESV)
His sermon had cut them to the heart. They asked what they needed to do to be saved. Peter told them plainly and challenged them to turn in repentance and faith and be saved from the coming judgment of God. Jesus is the center of all things and giver of eternal life on good days and bad days. On virus filled and virus free days. It is all about Jesus and how we respond to him.
How do you respond to Jesus? Who do you say that he is?
If you are unsure how to respond or if you don’t know who Jesus claimed to be then find out for yourself. If you have a Bible read through the Gospel of John and ask yourself as you read these two questions: Who does Jesus claim to be? How does he want me to respond to his claims?
If you don’t own a Bible, you can find the bible online at www.esv.org It is free and easy to use. Click on READ NOW and then type JOHN in the search box in the upper right-hand corner.
